TrafficSignal Lite User Guide

Overview

TrafficSignal Lite is the traffic intelligence layer of the Easy Traffic Systems ecosystem. It helps WordPress site owners understand visitor activity by separating useful human traffic signals from bot activity, referrer noise, and raw traffic confusion.

The plugin is designed to provide practical visibility into recent traffic behavior, source activity, top referrers, device/browser context, human visitor growth, and traffic momentum.

Requirements

• A working WordPress website.
• Administrator access to install and activate plugins.
• ETS-Core installed and activated.
• An active Easy Traffic Systems license that includes TrafficSignal Lite entitlement.
• Normal website traffic for the dashboard to begin collecting useful data.

Installation

1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
3. Upload the TrafficSignal Lite ZIP file.
4. Click Install Now.
5. Click Activate Plugin.
6. Confirm that ETS-Core is installed and active.

Licensing

TrafficSignal Lite uses the standard Easy Traffic Systems licensing model. Customers enter one license key in ETS-Core, and ETS-Core manages product entitlement across the installed ETS plugins.

1. Open ETS-Core → License Manager.
2. Enter your Easy Traffic Systems license key.
3. Activate the license for the current site.
4. Confirm that TrafficSignal Lite appears as an entitled product.

If TrafficSignal Lite is installed but not included in the current license entitlement, the plugin interface may remain visible, but premium actions or licensed features may be restricted.

Quick Start

1. Install and activate ETS-Core.
2. Activate your Easy Traffic Systems license in ETS-Core.
3. Install and activate TrafficSignal Lite.
4. Open the TrafficSignal Lite dashboard.
5. Review the License Status card.
6. Allow the plugin to collect visitor data over time.
7. Use the date range selector to review recent activity.
8. Compare human visits, bot activity, referrers, and traffic momentum.

Dashboard

The TrafficSignal Lite dashboard uses the ETS Shared UI Framework. It includes a professional ETS-branded layout, compact License Status card, ETS Plugin Tools card, documentation access, support access, and TrafficSignal-specific analytics.

License Status Card

Shows whether ETS-Core is active, whether the site license is valid, and whether TrafficSignal Lite entitlement is available.

ETS Plugin Tools Card

Provides quick access to the ETS-Core License Manager, documentation, and support.

Date Range Selector

Allows you to review traffic activity across the selected reporting window, such as the last 7 days.

Dashboard Metrics

TrafficSignal Lite presents practical traffic intelligence through cards, charts, and activity tables. These metrics are intended to help site owners understand what is happening on the site without needing to interpret raw server logs.

Human Visits

Shows visitor activity believed to represent real human browsing behavior.

Bot Activity

Shows traffic activity identified as bot or automated behavior.

Human vs Bot

Helps separate useful visitor signals from automated traffic noise.

Traffic Momentum

Helps indicate whether recent traffic activity is growing, shrinking, or holding steady across the selected time period.

Referrers & Source Insights

Referrer and source data help identify where traffic is coming from. This may include search engines, direct visits, social platforms, linked websites, referral pages, or other traffic sources.

• Review top referrers to see which outside sources are sending traffic.
• Look for changes in referral activity after publishing new content.
• Compare source behavior against human visitor growth.
• Use referrer insights to understand which promotional channels are producing visible activity.

Human vs Bot Traffic

Not all traffic is equal. Some visits come from real people. Other visits may come from bots, crawlers, scrapers, monitors, automated tools, or search-related systems.

TrafficSignal Lite helps separate these signals so site owners can better understand whether traffic activity is likely to represent meaningful human engagement or automated background noise.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics are positioned at the bottom of the TrafficSignal Lite dashboard and are intended for support, verification, and troubleshooting.

• Confirm plugin version.
• Review license and entitlement status.
• Confirm tracking components are active.
• Provide useful details when contacting support.

Best Practices

• Review TrafficSignal Lite regularly, not obsessively.
• Use the last 7 days as a quick pulse check.
• Compare traffic movement after publishing new SmartTopicPro articles.
• Watch for referrer growth from search, social, and linked sources.
• Do not treat every bot visit as bad traffic.
• Use TrafficSignal Lite alongside content, schema, search signal, and image optimization tools in the ETS ecosystem.

Troubleshooting

TrafficSignal Lite says it is not licensed

Open ETS-Core License Manager and confirm that your license is active and includes TrafficSignal Lite entitlement.

The dashboard shows little or no data

New installations need time to collect traffic. Confirm the plugin is active, then allow real site visits to occur.

Referrer data looks low

Referrer data depends on whether the visitor source passes referrer information. Some browsers, privacy tools, redirects, and platforms may limit referrer visibility.

Bot activity appears high

Bot activity is common on WordPress sites. Crawlers, search engines, scanners, and automated systems may all create background traffic.

Metrics changed after updating

Confirm the selected date range and allow fresh data to collect. Dashboard layout updates should not remove historical data unless a separate data reset or database change was performed.
